The brand new DOOM is finally here. Well almost.. When we think of Doom we remember the first ever 3D first person shooter, it was groundbreaking, it was scary and it was exciting. Now we think of it as something which didn’t quite innovate as regularly as we had hoped and fell behind the times. Will this new installment in the Doom franchise have us spending endless hours at our pc’s (or playstations/xbox’s for those console gamers)? Or will it have us turning it off wishing we hadn’t paid real money for it. Time will tell.
43.8GB worth of files are pre-installing as we speak, there have been some incredible trailers to hype the latest installment in this fading franchise. I haven’t been this excited for a game in a long time. I’ve broken this game down in to a formula; Hype + fading franchise = Excitement. *not an accurate formula
One of the main problems I face is the negativity surrounding this release since is BETA the other week. There has been a lot of criticism but I always like to make my mind up for myself before reading too much in to these things. I am hoping for a game which feels similar to Unreal Tournament, the online fun similar to Quake and the community of CS:GO. But hey, I don’t expect much..
I will be posting a review out after a few hours of game play, not only this but I will lend a prediction in to it’s future, whether or not it will do well and most importantly of all – whether or not you should be buying it. In a completely saturated market and hundreds of great games you will probably never play (seriously, go and look at some of the top titles of the last 10 years and ask yourself have you really played that many?) we will find out where Doom fits in.
